Peplum.

Peplum is a term used describe a dress, top or skirt with a ruffle at the bottom or top. It first appeared on the fashion scene in the 1940s, took a rest then reappeared again in the 1980s. It had been awhile since this peppy trend was on the scene though not for long.
This trend tried to make a comeback last season but it was not wholly embraced unlike this season. Fashion week runways this year featured a lot of peplum collections from the Christian Dior peplum jackets to Burberry Prorsum skirts, Peplum is one of the trends to look out for on the streets and off the runways.

Not only is it a nice way to show off a really trim waist, you hardly need to accessorize due to the ruffles littered over the dress or skirt. Peplum is an accessory in itself.

The month of January through February marks the onset of one of the most watched events in both Television and Film aptly known as Award Season. From the People’s Choice Awards to the Academy Awards; Directors, Producers, Writers, Musicians, Composers and Actors come out to honor their peers decked in the most gorgeous gowns and Tuxedos strictly for the various Awards’ Red Carpets.
Here are some of the Trends that graced the Red Carpet this Award season.

Color Blocking. Color blocking is a great way to mix and match different color palettes to pull of a great look and a lot of the fashion conscious did that. Most celebrities went with two-toned shades to add a little color to otherwise bland outfits like Angelina Jolie and Emma Stone at the Golden Globes.

Color. Tonnes of color from jewel to blush tones ruled the Red carpet on all awards. From Paula Patton's bold yellow to Kelly Osbourne’s deep blue at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards, celebrities showed their love for bold colors without shame and proved it is here to stay.

Sparkles. Glitter and Sparkles ruled the runways during last year’s fashion week. It is no surprise that this trend made its way from the runways to the red carpet. There is not a girl in this world who doesn’t love a little sparkle/Glitter no matter how old.

High Collar. The collar trend has changed in so many different ways lately that it is a little hard to keep up with since a lot of necklines are on fashion. The High neckline made its debut on the red carpet as the neck line of choice for celebrities like Adele to Taylor Swift making it one of the trends for the season.

High Slit. I can not get enough of the high slit on skirts and dresses and neither can the fashion savvy. Sporting a high slit is not only a fun way to show off a toned leg, it is also very prim and flirtatious.

Mermaid. So many celebrities flattered in custom made silhouettes with flaring mermaid style trends.

Tea-Length.

Time to give the mini and maxi skirts a rest because the prim yet proper and fashionable hemline of all is back. That’s right ladies, the tea-length hemline has made a comeback.
This hemline is very feminine as it shows off the right curves without giving away too much. It is the way to go when you want to give off a serious yet chic impression no matter the occasion whether in a skirt or dress.

Fuller skirt
Tea length dresses and skirts with a little volume at the bottom or skirt are good for ladies with a boyish figure.

Sequin
Whether on a skirt or dress, sequin embellished tea-length garments are good for ladies who are on the shorter side. The sequins are a sure way to make you stand out from the crowd.

The bright lipstick color has taken over the beauty and makeup world. Tips For A Fabulous Bright Lip.

A bold colorful lip is the makeup and beauty trend of choice lately from celebrities to the fashion conscious in that it is no stranger on many faces. Here is a few ways to help you wear this fabulous lip color without shame.

Make sure your lips are super soft and hydrated before laying down heavy pigment. You need to have a smooth canvas for your color.

Block out the natural pigment in your lips by applying foundation or concealer directly to your pout.

Blot with a tissue to pick up any left over foundation, which can end up diluting the lipstick pigment.

Begin application in the center of the mouth-applying directly from the tube or with a lip brush-and then blend outwards to the corners of the lips. this technique allows you to slowly build up color and control its intensity.

Once you've achieved your desired tone, blot and then reapply the lipstick to give it staying power.

For a precision look-finish your look by tracing the natural line with a lip pencil that matches your lipstick.

For a softer look, only a line from the corners of the mouth into the bow of the upper lip, and then use your finger to smudge inward; you'll end up with a perfect, airbrushed effect.

If blackheads are the bane of your life, raid the kitchen and try out these effective homemade recipes.

Egg-It

Whip two egg whites until stiff and spread out on your face with your hands. let it dry completely then rinse off.

Peel Off

Microwave 15ml gelatine and 20ml milk for 10 seconds. Apply to nose and chin. After drying for 10-15 minutes, peel off.

Scrub Away

For an inexpensive pore cleanser, mix baking soda with water to form a paste. Gently scrub the areas where the blackheads occur with the paste.

Sweet Remedy

Mix 15ml of honey, 10ml of lemon juice and 5ml of sugar. Apply the mixture in circular motions for 5 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.

Tip: Whenever using a facial scrub, it is advisable to scrub in circular motions for 5 minutes or less. Do not let the scrub to dry off on your face, it does more harm than good.

I am utterly obsessed with red lipstick although it is a timeless classic. For this season, a cherry pout packs a more festive punch this time of year. Whether you're wearing a little black dress or just jeans and a Tee, red lips are always the perfect accessory.

Spotted on everyone from Lea Michele to Emma Watson, this is one makeup trend that can be embraced by all—regardless of skin tone or face shape. Try on a few colors from bright pink to cherry red before committing; once you find a shade that suits you, stock up and wear it like these leading ladies. Keep the rest of your makeup minimal that is a swipe of mascara, a touch of concealer and let the lipstick take center stage.

Fur is one of those trends that come and go with time but never out of style. This season, we’ve seen a Furry comeback and it is where its at. Wearing real fur is a crime against Animal Rights but not so for FAUX (FAKE) fur. So fluffy and warm, this trend will keep you toasty through the cold without compromising on style and fashion. Just having one exudes luxury.
It is one of those trends that don’t discriminate when it comes to gender as it is unisex whereby both fashion forward men and women can rock it.

Yahoo!’s Worst Trends of 2011.

Yahoo! released a list of its worst trends of 2011 which I had to share because I would like to know if you agree with or not. I have edited it to fit the objective of the page. Here goes;

Spider Lashes
The clumpy top and bottom eyelashes that result from a zillion coats of mascara made a dramatic appearance on celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian and Nicki Minaj. The downside is lumpy, messy mascara that takes double the time to take off that it did to put on.

Animal Prints
It has definitely been the year for the animal prints. Head to toe animal prints on anyone never looked good. There are too many cheap looking leopard prints that are destroying an otherwise super classic chic look.

Bandage Dresses
This skin tight trend peaked in 2011 and was all over the red carpet on so many celebrities like Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sofia Vargara.

Super Stilettos
This year saw a rise in heel height, with six-inch shoes hitting New York runways. The low point of this trend is sore feet, and a risk that your footwear could actually send you to the hospital with back pain or worse.

Pantyhose
While Kate Middleton gets plenty of praise for fashion inspiration, she also re-introduced sheer pantyhose this year.

Fisherman Feathers
Feather lures made a debut as hair accessories this year. In fact, they were so popular that fly shops were low on inventory for the actual fisherman to use.

Harem Pants
Harem pants reappeared three years ago and gained a lot of popularity in 2011, are the updated version of the MC Hammer pants from the late 80s. They answer the question, “what would happen if you crossed skinny jeans with a skort, and then added an elastic waistband?” The result is a trend that only Gwen Stefani looks good in.

Wedge Booties
These were all over the red carpet this year. Much as they look cute, they are not as flattering as everyone thinks because they do nothing to elongate the leg.

It is the festive season and there is no better trend to make you feel festive and love it than Glitter and Sequins. Glitter and sequins were all over the fashion week runway from designers like Armani and Versace. A lot of fashionable people have taken to the trend including celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie.

It is pretty hard to carry off as an everyday look but it being the festive season, you have a right to wear it to anything because its all about tinsel and bright colourful lights this time of year. What better way to blend in with the season than rocking glitter and sequins?

You can wear it through out the festive season without fear of standing out. Glitter and sequins can be worn to anything from a boyfriend shirt with a sequin skirt to a pair of jeans paired with a sequin short jacket depending on the occasion and the look you want to achieve.

The trend is glitzy enough that you do not need to accessorize at all. Minimal jewellery is a MUST when it comes to glitter and sequins. You don’t want to end up looking like an over decorated tree.

Sparkly Nails

I love sparkly nails at the moment. They make you feel girly and fabulous at the same time while putting you in a great mood. Who does not smile when they look at their nails with sparkles on them?
They are a great idea for the festive season because it all about; glitter, sequins and tinsel during this time of year. Whatever you do or wear to stand out goes a mile during the festive season- anything to put you in a great mood.

Sparkly Nails with Henna as a base

I did my nails awhile back and added sparkles on them as a finishing touch for a glam look.
I used Henna as a base color and then the sparkly nail polish with a variety of colors then finished up the look with a colourless nail polish for gloss.

For the second look I did not use a base color just colorless nail polish as a base. Added a few swipes of the sparkly nail polish and then finished it off with colourless nail polish.
Remember to use sparkly nail polish with a variety of colours for a colourful look.
My nails in the second picture are fabulously colourful which makes me love them more.

FashionWeek is the time when the biggest fashion houses from the four major fashioncapitals of the world; Milan, London, New York and Paris, put on fashion shows for their clients todisplay their latest creations and collections for the coming weather seasons.

FromSalvatore Ferragamo's luxurious and eclectic stylish touch to BurberryProrsum's simple, flattering combinations and prints. Fashion Week is an eventnot to be missed as it marks the beginning of fashion trends that are to beseen in the coming seasons.

Floral Prints. No trend screams old age like floralbut for designers like Nina Ricci and Blumarine, it was the endorsed styletrend of choice. The floral theme is boldly being represented with brightcolors and big motifs that are obviously meant to give a look-at-me vibe. Theclassy yet lady-like elegance showcased in knee-length cocktail dressesreplaces the obsession with short dresses that are rarely flattering to a largepercentage of women.

Candy Colors.

Manya designer's collection were full of an eclectic display of color which impliesthat fabulous color combos will continue to be a strong style tendency for manyseasons to come. How To Wear A Scarf.

As a trend, scarves are now made with brighter,lighter fabrics intended just for looks. You can get creative with your scarfby using it not only as a neck but hair accessory. This will change your entirelook. Aside from being a hair accessory, here is a few more ways to tie thescarf.

Getting the look.

· Bow-Tie

Knotthe scarf as you would a ribbon to make a bow. Take both sides of the scarf,fold them and make a knot. The result isa bow-tie effect.

· Snoodor one way:

Tieboth ends of the scarf together and wear it around your neck. You can wrap ittwice to make it look a little thick and chic.

· Fold:

Foldthe scarf in half, drape around the neck with the two ends on one side and thefold on the other. Slip the ends throughthe fold and you're ready to go.

· Drape:

drapethe scarf around your neck and let it hang loosely to blend in with the outfit.

While you won't be able to alter the shape of your mouth completely, you can even up unbalanced lips or make them appear larger and smaller with the correct application of lipstick.

Full lips can be made to appear thinner by lightly covering them with foundation to blur the edges. Using a dark lip liner, outline lips just inside their natural edge, then brush on a lip color. Avoid pearly or glossy colors as these will make the lips look even fuller.
Thin lips can look fuller if accentuate their shape by outlining just outside their natural edge with a light lip liner. Brush on a lip color inside the line you have drawn. Avoid using matte colors as these can make them look thinner. Slightly glossy colors will make lips look fuller.
A thin upper lip is balanced by penciling just outside the top lip line and filling in. make sure you use a slightly lighter application on the bottom lip.
A thin bottom line can be corrected by outlining the bottom lip only, and then using a slightly thicker coat of color on the top lip.
