The 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Awards season has officially kicked off  with barely 8 days into the new year. What a fabulous way to be reminded of all the glamour in store with none other than the Golden Globes? The red carpet was sunny despite the winter blues and gave the celebrities an addition gaiety to the mood of the event. These are the trends that dominated on the carpet.

Sequins
Nothing spells festive and fun than the dazzle of all-over metalic sequins. Amy Adams was resplendent in black Tom Ford while Ruth Negga dazzled in silver Louis Vuitton.

One-shoulder Neckline
If the Golden Globes red carpet is to be used as a foresight into more trends to be seen at coming awards' red carpets, then the one-shoulder neckline is one to look forward to this season.

Gold Lace
It's only natural for fashion's leading ladies like Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra and Sofia Vergara to put the  'gold' in Golden by wearing gold lace to the carpet, right?

Sweetheart Necklines
Sweetheart necklines never go out of style when it comes to making a fashion statement and Heidi Klum, Naomie Harris and Wynona Ryder proved that.

Shoulder Cut-outs
The shoulder cut out trend made its way onto the Awards red carpet maintaining it's place as one of the season's biggest trend.

Yellow
The Globes red carpet from from glum to sunny when Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis and Maisie Williams brought rays of sunshine in their varying shades of yellow gowns.

Cutouts
Slices of tummy and abs-baring remain on trend with this red carpet staple and Carrie Underwood, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Culpo all gravitated towards it for the Golden Globes.
