New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016 Trends

New York fashion week got off with a presentation from Givenchy spring/summer 2016 which set the tone for an eclectic fashion week with plenty of fashion forward presence.

Halter-Necklines - Halter necklines with fine straps on maxi dresses and volume pieces were new and flattering on proportioned and bellowing silks.

Ruffles - Featured in abundance at the New York shows with designers experimenting on a variety of styles and lengths.

Florals - Florals felt contemporary and artisan with large exotic blooms as seen at Dennis Basso, Alice & Olivia and Tadashi Shoji.

Patchwork - Patchwork fabrics and prints picked up in New York with designers using a medley of contrast prints to create eclectic looks.

Shoulder Cutouts - A cross-cutting trend when it came to the popular cutout trend were shoulder cutouts from Givenchy, Barbara Tfank and Herve Leger.

Fringe - Fringing remains a New York staple fitting in with the bohemian vibe that filled majority of the shows.

Colored Stripes - This trend staple got a make-over on the runways of New York where lines were bold and vibrant in a myriad of colors.

Mesh - Sporty elements dominated in most presentations with mesh making rounds on a variety of gowns and dresses in New York.

Layering - Sporty tailoring took center stage as a new trend with an emphasis on long, layered shapes with innovative detailing.

Shine - Embellishments from sequins to appliques shone on collections as the runways glittered in New York.
