The 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

After two weeks of glorious red carpet glamour, the Cannes Film Festival drew to a close. The red carpet not only saw bigger ball gowns and lavish jewels but also a number of trends had their moment in the French Riviera sunshine. Here are the trends that caused wardrobe waves at the Film Festival.

Feather Flirtations. Cate Blanchett, Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore all turned themselves into birds of paradise on the Cannes red carpet. Whether the blooms of feathers was just a casual sprinkling or a full on feather furore, it’s clear the must have attire adornment was feathers.

Pleats. There were most certainly pleats at Cannes over the last two weeks. Mia Wasikowska in Valentino and Zoe Saldana in Victoria Beckham were both pretty in pleats.

Cold Shoulder Chic. Many actresses went all asymmetric with their attire but the biggest fan of the look was definitely Jessica Chastain who wore two one shoulder dresses during her time in Cannes.

Sexy Slits. It was serious leg envy at the festival but those who chose a split hem worked it with subtlety and showed that if you dare to bare, you don’t have to go all the way.

Shine and Shimmer. The red carpet is always the ideal place to shake your sequins and spread some shimmer so naturally many a celebrity glistened in the sunshine.

Monochrome Magic. Cannes played host to many a monochrome moment over the last two weeks.

High Low Hems. High Low hems were out in full force on the Cannes red carpet when Cheryl came out of the sartorial sha9dows with a Monique Lhuillier black staggered hem dress and Maid Marion, queen of French sophistication joined in as well with a shorter Dior delight.
